Arrive at 5:45 p.m. to help set-up.
We'll serve dinner at 6:15 p.m.
We all sign up to come and to bring an item for the dinner. When you RSVP, please note what you would like to bring; Ideas are: cooked broccoli, lots of shredded cheese, lots of sour cream, tubs of butter or margarine, large bags of salad (2 or 3 people), bring 3 bottles of salad dressing, lots of cookies (2 or 3 people), lots of chopped green onions, plastic cups and napkins for 70.
Thanks for being generous. Including ourselves, we expect 60 to 70 women.

Young Alum Wine Tasting 11-13-08
Come join us at 6:30 PM for this fun and exciting event! Pop the Cork Wine Bar recently opened in July of 2008 and features 40-50 wines available by the taste, flight, and glass. In addition, they offer small plate food items such as gourmet meats, cheeses, olives, breads, pizzas, paninis and salads.
No doubt there is something here for everyone's particular interests and tastes. This will be a great opportunity to mix and mingle with other young alums and continue to build our friendships and networks.

Gerontology Outreach 10-24-08

Our group meets in the lobby of the Sea Cliff Senior Care Facility in Huntington Beach, and then we walk through the facility to visit with seniors and brighten their day with harvest decorations and pumpkins. We go there to encourage the residents, but our visits always boost our spirits, as well. We hope to see you on the 24th at 10:00 AM.

Mother's of Young Children SIG 10-12-08

Calling all Sigma Kappa Mothers of Young Children! Please join us for our first event to connect with other Sigma Kappa sisters who have children. We hope you can join us for an hour at Harriett M. Wieder Regional Park in Huntington Beach from 1 pm - 2 pm on Sunday, October 12th. This park is great for toddlers and young children, and has benches for us moms to sit and enjoy each other's company while the kids play.
This is a relaxed event to meet each other and enjoy time with other mothers. We can also discuss other ideas for future events and the possibility of several branches of the Mothers SIG since many of us are not able to travel all over the city with our young children. Hope to see you there!

Balloon Ride 10-09-08

Meet at the Visitor's Center at The Great Park of Irvine at 5:50 PM ,and we'll sign permission slips for this short and fun ride.
You can bring take-out food to eat at the surrounding picnic tables.
The Great Park Balloon is the first major attraction of the Orange County Great Park, a 1,347 acre public space on the site of the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station in Orange County, California.

Please join our Orange County Sigma Kappa Alum group at a home in Newport Beach for our Kick-off Event!
It's a time to meet new Sigma Kappas and to learn about the diverse and dynamic activities of our group. Please join us and know you will feel comfortable as there are many first-time visitors at this event.

Young Alum SIG 08-06-08

Come join us on the evening of August 6th at 6:30 pm to have a picnic and watch the sunset at Corona Del Mar State Beach.
Since parking is somewhat limited, I encourage you to carpool if at all possible. Parking is free on top of the hill, or you can park down by the beach for a minimal charge (if you carpool, you can all help pitch in for this cost).
Make sure to bring a beach towel (or two), folding chairs if you prefer, frisbee's and anything else beach appropriate. Please also bring something to share for the group whether store bought or homemade. Ideas would include:
* items to make sandwhiches (bread, lettuce, deli meats, cheese, etc.)
* drinks (preferably cans, juice boxes, bottled water, etc.)
* snacks (chips, dip, veggies, cold pasta salad, etc.)
* treats (cookies, brownies, etc.)
Just to make sure we have a variety of items, when you RSVP include what you will be bringing.

Picnic and concert in the park starting at 4:15 pm.
Golden State British Brass will be performing at Huntington Central Park!
(Corner of Goldenwest & Talbert)
Bring your own picnic, which can be as simple as picking up fast food of your choice. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket. Come alone or with family or friends.
Park (free) at the Huntington Beach Central Library. Walk behind the library and look for the bandstand and a small flag.
Surely a "concert in the park" is on your summer to do list, and Huntington Central Park is beautiful and sure to be breezy at this time in the late afternoon. The Golden State British Brass will provide an enjoyable musical journey to Great Britain with a program of traditional British style brass band music.

Convention June 2008

The 83rd National Convention was held at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa, located in Indian Wells, California, June 25-June 29. The Esmeralda Resort was a beautiful location fit to meet Sigma Kappa Sorority's needs to make this another great Convention.
Many of our group attended the Sigma Kappa Convention and were excited to receive the Patricia Carlin Smith Award (working with collegiate chapter), Public Relations Award, Triangle Award, and Alumnae Panhellenic Award.

WELCOME EVENT FOR NEW ALUMS
Please join us at a home in Santa Ana to meet and welcome the new alums who went through Order of the Triange at Epsilon Tau, CSUF.
We will learn flower arranging, make basket floral arrangements, and enjoy a time of conversation and light lunch.
Please bring your baskets and vases (recycling at its best) to the event. Perhaps you have greenery or flowers from your backyard you would also like to share.
For those of you who can join us, we will deliver our basket creations to the residents of a nearby senior home. This is a favorite event of many in our alum group.
This event is a great tradition in the alum group and we will have lots of catch up time to visit and enjoy each other!

Order of the Triangle 05-05-08
Please come to a welcome reception at 6:30 PM for graduating seniors at Cal State Fullerton, followed by Order of the Triangle at 7 PM.
We visit with the seniors at the casual reception and answer their questions about alumnae groups and activities. The graduating seniors go through Order of the Triangle, a brief, yet beautiful ceremony to welcome the women to alumnae status.
Epsilon Tau is our assigned sister collegiate chapter, and we really want to show up in plenty to welcome them to alumnae status and answer their questions about alum group membership and activities. Please join us for this reception and ceremony (about 1 1/2 hours).
This will be an upbeat evening, and our alumnae always feel great after spending time with the collegians. For the ceremony, the attire is white shoes and dresses, just like old times!

We haven't enjoyed each other for awhile, and our May event is sure to encourage the Sigma Kappas at Cal State Fullerton and allow us great catch-up and visiting time with each other. Please join us!
We make individualized care packages for each collegiate member of Epsilon Tau to wish them good luck on finals.
PLEASE THINK GENEROUSLY and PLEASE BRING goodies to share for the care packages: Granola bars, chips, cookies, candy, nuts, popcorn, etc. to put in the care packages.
The chapter has about 100 women, so hopefully, our personal contributions can include packets for 3-5 dozen women, so working together we should have enough goodies for all the women.

Family Event 04-20-08

Our April event is a family event which means you can bring children, grandchildren, cousins, nieces or nephews, and spouses too. And of course you can come without children. High School Musical is a very popular and entertaining play, plus the architecture of the beautifully restored historical theater will be an additional treat. Please join us for this terrific event!
Checks must be received by April 1st. Please send in your money as soon as possible. Our prices are $12 per adult and $10 for children 12 and under and people 55 and over. Mail your check to our treasurer, Ellen French.

Valentine Making 02-07-08

This is a shared event with our sister collegiate chapter, Epsilon Tau at California State University, Fullerton. We are going to make homemade Valentines for delivery to an Alzheimer's Home. We will be meeting at a home in Wesminster at 7:00 pm.
Please bring supplies such as heavy card stock or construction paper, glue sticks, gel and glitter pens, felt pens, stickers, special edged scissors, lace, doilies, stamps and pads, etc.
This event is easy-going and conducive to friendship and conversation, Let's try to have a good turn-out from our group so that the collegians will have a better picture of the alum experience. No artistic talent is required.

CALLING ALL YOUNG ALUMNS (approximately 35 and under - and I won't card you *wink wink*)
On the last Tuesday of every month, The Melting Pot hosts a grand event known as Girls Night Out. You can enjoy a full 4 course meal for only $21 (not including drink, tax and tip). We were lucky enough to reserve a spot for 14 guests to enjoy this event with their sisters. Since space is limited, the first 14 "YES" replies will be included in this event.
